Hi, nice to meet you! I’m Deb, blessed to be married to my high school sweetheart for 33 years and counting. Wow! We have four incredible and unique adult children, one of whom was born with a developmental disability. He is the joy of our life and the center of our family decisions. We reside in the same cozy Colonial Cape Cod where we raised those kids and have lived here for 25 years. The original part of the home was built in 1920, so suffice to say there is ALWAYS a home project going on around here!
Healthy eating is a longstanding interst of mine, but if you offer me a cheesecake…I’m not going to say no! I believe in being balanced and taking time to enjoy all the little life celebrations possible. For everyday eating, low-carb cooking has definitely become a way of life over the years and I have lots of tips and recipes to share.
I never set out to be a teacher, but I discovered my love of cultivating knowledge in others despite my introverted nature, and I taught all ages from pre-school to high school. Recently, I have returned home to better meet the needs of our disabled son, and I’m finding that there is a whole world of joy in that, too.
Another thing you should know about me is that I’m well…….cheap. π I prefer the term “thrifty.” So for all those home projects and everything else I do, I’m going to find the best deal possible. My preference is to make up in creativity what I lack in budget. At the same time, there are definitely things I will splurge on, like purchases we will be living with for a long time, or things that will create a family memory.
First and foremost, I am grounded in my faith which is the foundation of my life. Beyond that, any time spent with family is a good time. My other pastimes include sitting on the patio watching birds and enjoying nature, planning vacations that may take place post-pandemic, scouring the internet for gifts or objects to make home welcoming and cozy, or cudding up with our lovable Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Bingley.
I’m glad you’re here, and I invite you to subscribe and join me on this journey of joy, contentment, home, garden, family, and fun!
